Covid-19 Protocols

August 15, 2022

As we begin the school year, it is a good time to review our pandemic protocols.  The Summit County Health Department has outlined new protocols for the start of the school year.

Covid-19 Protocols for Norton City Schools:

Test Positive - When students or staff that test positive, the following must occur:

  • Individuals will self-isolate for 5 days or  longer until fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms have improved.

  • Individuals have permission to return on day 6 provided they are symptom free.

  • Individuals will be required to wear a mask from day 6 to 10 (or after two negative tests 48 hours apart).

Mask to Stay - When students or staff are exposed to someone who tests positive, the

following occurs:

  • If  individuals are  symptom free, it is no longer recommended to wear a mask or test.

  • If individuals feel sick, or suspect they might have Covid-19, they should stay home and take a rapid test.

    • If results are positive,  follow the testing positive requirements.

Test to Play - For those students who have been exposed to a positive individual,  and are

participating in school-sponsored athletic activities and extracurricular events, the following occurs:

  • If individuals  are symptom free, it is no longer recommended to wear a mask or test.

  • If individuals feel sick, or suspect they might have Covid-19, stay home and take a rapid test.

    • If positive,  adhere to those specific requirements.

Testing Kits - The district does have a limited number of  tests available for students and staff,

but we are not able to offer tests to entire families.  If a need arises, you may contact your student’s buildings for a testing kit. For more information, visit coronavirus.ohio.gov.
