Norton City Schools

One Million Meals

Starting June 2017, Norton United: Grace Church, Norton City Schools and the City of Norton Administration, committed to partnering in feeding people, here, there and everywhere. We're not just giving food, we're feeding people with a meal. Over the course of three years, we would like to provide one million meals to feed people in our local community, the Greater Akron community and throughout the whole world!

Through “Panther Packs” and "Blessings in a Bag "we will provide families who are qualified for the food assistance program offered through the State of Ohio meals throughout the year. Items may be dropped off at a collection bin at Grace Church in order to be sorted for distribution. Though we will take any canned food item, we are encouraging people to provide the following items:

Canned Vegetables, Fruit and Soup
Cereal, Pancake Mix
Canned Meat - Chicken, Beef Stew, etc.
Macaroni and Cheese
Instant potatoes and Pasta/Rice side dishes
Spaghetti/Pasta and Spaghetti Sauce
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Granola Bars

You can drop off canned goods and/or non-perishables at any collection point in Norton City Schools, the City of Norton Administration Building or Grace Church. Just look for the collection point sign...

We recognize the need to provide for individuals and families in the greater Akron area who are in need. There will be multiple collections of canned good items from events connected to Grace Church, Norton City Schools and the Norton City Administration. Listed below are events which will collect canned food items that will be donated to local food pantries such as Barberton Area Community Ministries, The Haven of Rest and others.
Trunk Food: Ongoing – Monthly collection of canned food items the first Sunday of every month at Grace Church.

Through an organization called Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) we will assist in feeding the neediest children around the world. The FMSC mobile pack event in a one-of-a-kind experience where we pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to their partners around the world.
