About Mr. Kaufman:  I am a graduate of Norton Schools (Class of 87) and received my Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Akron (94). After teaching General Music, Band and Choir for the Fairport Harbor Exempted Village Schools for one year, I returned to Norton.  I have a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction and completed Masters in Administration work to receive my Principal license.
I am licensed to teach Music, grades K-12 and a licensed Principal for grades K-12.  I am also a certified educator evaluator.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I have served the district and MS on the Building Leadership Team, CIP/OIP Team, and District OTES and SLO committees.  I am also the district Music Curriculum Chairperson.
On a personal note, I have two children, Matthew and Beth Anne, who I co-parent with Mrs. Kaufman.  We live in Norton.  I enjoy the arts, sports, running, and camping.

9-4-18

As we get into our semester, we need to follow up with parents to make sure the band students have what they need to be successful.

8th Grade Band (@8nortband)

The 8th grade band will be using their Book 2 Method Book from last year, to start the year.  They need to start bringing it to class along with their instrument.  Percussionists need their own set of drum sticks and bell mallets. We will provide all of the rest of the equipment they need.  If you haven’t already, please remind your band student that they need to have a three ring binder and pencil for class. Lastly, be on the look out for info coming home soon about our September 21st, Football Game performance!

7th Grade Band (@7nortband)

The 7th Grade Band will be moving into Traditions of Excellence Book 2 this year.  We will order the books in bulk to save you a few dollars.  All wind books will be $10. Percussion Books are $13. Checks can be made out to Norton Music Boosters.  Percussionists need their own set of drum sticks and bell mallets. We will provide all of the rest of the equipment they need.  If you haven’t already, please remind your band student that they need to have a three ring binder and pencil for class.

6th Grade Band (@6nortband)

The 6th Grade band will continue using their Tradition of Excellence Book #1.  If they lost the book, we can order you a new one, or see if we have some used ones for them. Percussionists need their own set of drum sticks and bell mallets. We will provide all of the rest of the equipment they need.  They should leave their bell/pad sets at home for home practice.  If you haven’t already, please remind your band student that they need to have a three ring binder and pencil for class.
